• Apr10-2013--Dawn says Imran Khan offers "cancer ka ilaj", arranged cricket matches with india... massive price hikes and taxation, no solution on electricity problems and development in a 100 days and the "end of corruption" in 90 days...he says his cancer hospital is better than teh ittefaq hospital while the PPP cannot point to any zardari or benazir hospital...The PPP was cancerously slow inits decision making which resulted in the judiciary attacking their unprincipled attitudes...the judiciary won that battle 3-1...however nawaz sharif might have teh edge in public projects of a larger dimension such as the motorway to swat and a bullet train from peshawar to rawalpindi or lahore for a start...teh PPP offers nothing new and it could not even finish ongoing projects such as the zero point overhead loops and teh new islamabad airport...no major highways were visibly completed even in sindh although three were apparently started...and their only projects in punjab the two highways to chakwal were blocked by teh judiciary...and dawn also suggests that imran khans policy advisors might be asad umer, jehangir tareen and shireen mazari with the politics controlled by javed hashmi and shah mahmood...mostly south punjabis...he probably needs to add a couple of sindhi's, pukhtun's and a baloch...one area thinking he must realize does'nt usually work... imran khan should know that from teh PPP experience!...however many suggest that imran khan given his newness to power might be able to solve some of teh countries chronic problems such as karachi, balochistan and fata...on sectarianism he seems on teh shiite bench like teh PPP and nawaz sharif might have teh edge...

• Apr9-2013--politicians want security beyond normal measures...recent occurrences include general kiani sending military guards to england for musharaf...approval by raja ashraf of 250 policemen to guard him and 100 policemen to guard yusuf raza gilani...other politicians usually get a vehicle and a few police guards while judges get a police guard at their homes and one travelling with them...commissioners too get police guards and most politicians are assigned one policeman...that is the only activity that the police carries out...the rest includes minor investigations of blasts, robberies and other crimes such as immigration problems etc. Akhter mengal has complained of telephonic and physical threats by invisible forces which are usually carried out by political opponents but also blamed on teh security agencies...such things are normal occurrences in sindh and punjab especially karachi where there are other extortionists as well which include criminal/religious and ethnic desperados...musharaf recently was assigned three police commandos..!General Kiani has an imperial guard with two guards sitting at the ready with weapons in an open hilux..PMlq leaders such as chaudhry shujaat had at one time nine police vehicles stationed at their residences...

• Apr8-2013--In decisions that are not uniform musharaf was kicked out by three RO's while teh chitral RO allowed him to contest in NA32...however that too could be overruled by teh SC which is hearing five serious cases of breach of discipline and law against the former coup plotter...Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was stopped in NA 53 and PP7 but allowed in NA49...Pervez Ashraf also known as Raja Rental was knocked out in NA51...in the degree verification process...mir israrullah zehri, tariq magsi, nadir magsi including several others were disqualified over fake degrees...The courts could however look into disqualifications by one RO and approval by another since teh information is the same and only the objections differ...many others also were rejected due to dual nationality and false assets declaration including ghazanfar gul in gujerat, shahid akram bhinder in NA97, Imtiaz safdar warriach in NA98, sheikh waqas in NA89 etc...three Niwanis rejected in NA73/74 and PP49...there have been numerous rejections by RO's this year and election tribunals will have a lot to do to settle teh appeals...

• Apr6-2013--the courts and FBR get embarassed at teh RO's asking the candidates to explain their finances and basic islamic understanding...teh RO's have apparently been upstaging teh judiciary as usually corrupt people get thru the nomination process...the RO's who are asking the candidates to recite darood and surah's and questioning expenses on foreign travel has delighted many people where most people still suffer abject poverty...politicians lie about everything under teh sun...including their wealth and even whether they can recite an ordinary surah...people have been delighted even more than teh actions of teh failed represssive judiciary and many feel teh failed army and ECB...upto now neither teh courts have been able to control corruption amongst politicians nor generals and neither have teh ECB been able to weed out the troublemakers...although they have disqualified one for propagating against pakistan's ideology...
  
• Apr5-2013--a returning officer in chakwal rejected the papers of Ayaz Amir a vitriolic journalist and former PMLn mna for deriding pakistans ideology...In Chiniot NA87 the returning officer rejected the papers of three politicians...syed faisal saleh hayat, syed abid imam s/o of syeda abida hussein also involved in electricity theft and PPP's Syed Abbas shah for not paying their water and electricity bills..returning officers are asking candidates to recite quranic verses and darood and asking about their utility bills, loan defaults and expenditure on foreign travel...!
  
• Apr5-2013--In what looks pretty much like PPP orders jamshed dasti was jailed for a fake degree alongwith a KP former minister and a bahawalpur PPP mna...the PPP candidate in muzaffargarh probably jumping up and down in delight...while teh courts have restricted government decisions such as jobs and projects that effect teh outcome of elections but teh ECP has not restricted teh courts for such devastating individually last minute decisions...
  
• Apr5-2013--The interior minister turns out tobe a controversial ISI spook who ran the balochistan ISI network says teh dawn...he says election incidents could dent teh bullet proof reputation of the pakistan army and he would not put them out on election day to protect their bullet riddled identity...The ECP has already asked teh armed forces to station troops in and around sensitive polling stations and even station one soldier inside the booths...?many suggest that the armies activities in balochistan and east pakistan have been critisized sufficiently but probably no one would even think that their presence on polling days should be avoided rather than risk trouble...most people now accept that serious law and order situations need teh intervention of teh armed forces whether political or otherwise...however teh FC and rangers are also said tobe sufficiently armed and trained now...the new interior minister malik habib khan also wants to replace teh islamabad IG,DG FIA, DG passports and coordinator NCTA...however his choice of a DIG who assaulted the CJ is considered controversial...IG islamabad bani yamin has had a generally good reputation but obviously having worked with the controversial rehman malik he will be unable to get along as generally happens...

• Apr2-2013--hazar khan khoso working at a slow tortoise pace installs his 15 member cabinet...including amongst ministers at least one who sold her farm to musharaf some say illegally...suggestions are widely seen amongst commentators asto the loyalties of hazar khan khoso who was a judge during a largely military ruled era...many suggest he might be a musharaf stooge seen also in teh slowness of teh SC to act on musharaf's varied criminal actions...in which i just refer to teh lal masjid and the judges incarceration...

• Mar26-2013--wapda fires the PPP's most expensive technocrat Naveed Ismail as head of teh Genco holding company...raja Pervez Ashraf illegally approved a salary of Rs1.8 million in his end days for teh blue eyed who had earlier been fired from KESC
  
• Mar26-2013--Nawaz Sharif takes off from mansehra and many feel that with teh PPP almost a total failure it is upto teh PMLn and the PTI to rule the roost
  
• Mar26-2013--a diminutive looking hazar khan khoso becomes caretaker primeminister...the ECP gives teh arrow symbol to the PPP-P but is yet to decide on teh name PPP which they say is now meaningless as it is at best a family organisation with no popular base
  
• Mar26-2013--Akhter mengal fails to realize that violence has to stop from all sides for any effective solution or even an effective democracy......balochistan is not divided between india and pakistan and self determination is not an option...Obviously teh state should wield a softer hand but the militants too should drop their weapons...however teh do nothing raisani regime was not able to achieve anything...if elections are to have any meaning than everyone should participate...nobody can bring about democracy individually and it is hardly an effective system in other provinces...however solutions can only be found by people in government who come in thru elections or even other means..violence by the state, liberation groups and taleban/sectarian organisations are obviously all counterproductive...democracy basically means that if one group fails teh people should bring in another party or group...

• Mar25-2013--The CEC prevails over his punjabi colleague supporting Justice(r) Nasir Aslam Zahid and the former judges of smaller provinces like their political counterparts select Justice Hazar Khan Khoso(r) as caretaker primeminister...Khoso served as an acting judge of teh BHC for ten years...!...Khoso has served for some months in the election commission from 1985-86...he was teh BHC chief justice fromm 1989 to 1991 and has also served as acting governor...he was a judge and chief justice of teh federal Shariat court as well retiring in 1994...his smiling picture shows that he perhaps might be the only baloch who can smile...agewise he is 84...
  
• Mar24-2013--The ECP also divided between khoso and zahid says the dawn as PPP bad tactics emerge as they write letter to influence teh ECP...while it is teh election commissioner who has to select one name it seems the commission is deciding teh issue with a two two tie with the sindh member missing...while khoso is seen as having been promoted by teh PPP...zahid is seen by teh PPP(zardari)as having given judgements against them even though at the time they were seen as brave decisions against the political feudal families that were seen tobe feuding against each other..Khoso was seen as a dark horse as the innocuous ishrat hussein was said tobe in teh lead but opposed by teh PMLn who were said earlier tobe supporting abdul hafeez sheikh who lost out because of his go nowhere economics...many feel both ishrat and hafeez would prefer tobe considered for economics minister...however many feel that a politically influenced finance minister is better than a military influenced one...

• Mar20-2013--In 1982 power was one rupee per unit and no load shedding...Than came the six cent IPP's to fifteen cent per unit electricity...fuel supply problems, circular debt and rental power scams...The PPP regime inits dying days almost overturns teh power system restructuring which has been a disaster from teh start and infact even with excessive price hikes teh ministry of water and power was unable to handle teh system...The Wapda chief a sindhi raghib shah has now been made teh defacto head of teh power system and will be able to appoint a director in all sixteen power companies...he will also be teh co chairman of the NTDC/CPPA whose directors have been reduced to eight with four new ones...teh only prominent one being sharafat ali sial who was until recently teh head of LESCO...The restructuring which started in teh early nineties with teh IPP's and decoupling of wapda's power sector into sixteen relatively independent companies has been a total disaster...aimed at privatization teh government was only able to sell teh kot addu power plant ...starting with teh controversial IPP's they have gone from bad to worse...at this stage there is now almost 50% load shedding thru out teh year as the government can neither control hydel or gas supplies...The governments present position is that teh power system at present based on gas and furnace oil be shifted to a partially coal based system...a difficult task many say...some say teh iranian gas will solve teh problem three years down teh lane...while others say governments small efforts in hydel,wind,solar and import fields will have effect in time...the government has been unable to start a really big hydel project with bhasha inching forward...neelum jhelum was inordinately delayed and now they say it is bunji that will be teh next big one...raghib shah has stated that the system will not be stabilized before 2020...even now apparently many power stations are idle because teh government cannot provide gas or other fuels to them...many say teh system should be further liberalized by allowing power stations to arrange their own fuels...since even iranian gas wont be enough with shortfalls already estimated at three times the possible supply...many also suggest that since gas is surplus in summers it should be diverted to power stations and fertilizer plants should be shut down in winter or shifted to other fuels...government should also realize that unnecessary expansions in teh industrial, housing and commercial sectors will cause further supply shortage problems in teh future...

• Mar08-2013--As if the excessive price hikes by teh PPP were not enough Nawaz Sharif wants to double taxes and obviously increase prices similarly ..not a solution that has not been already tried...taxes have gone from teh millions to teh trillions without any solution to teh economy in which teh entire federal deficit is equivalent to the doleout to teh provinces...solving teh energy crisis seems tobe a long term task for them too and if load shedding in gas and electricity in punjab continues for another two years they will have lost teh support of teh people...if a solution is not arrived at...which shahbaz sharif says will cause him to resign...!
• Mar08-2013--General kayani who can be described as a failure alongwith asif zardari/rehman malik apparently discussed their failure over five years to end terrorism in teh country...while suicide bombers might now be a vanishing breed the more devastating car bombs have taken over and both teh PPP says are untraceable...The PPP has been unable to deal with security problems in balochistan, sindh and KP...instead of dealing with those problems and solving them they kept attacking teh punjab...the PPP should have been attacking teh sindh and balochistan governments which were failing in their jobs...attacking organisations in punjab is obviously not teh solution...operations should be mounted in quetta and karachi rather than running death squads by teh mqm and intelligence/corp commanders...many say general kayani who should be applying for LPR seems keen on staying on even after teh PPP...The PPP could help teh country a great deal by appointing a new army chief and transferring teh police chiefs in sindh and balochistan...the sindhi natured PPP has not been able to appoint police chiefs on merit and have kept trying to promote sindhi's and seraiki's...their avoidance of arresting killers in karachi and dealing with the balochistan crisis have caused teh country to suffer...
• Mar07-2013--Brig Ali Khan teh General kayani nemesis who suggested that teh army chief be replaced after abbottabad had also asked all generals to giveup their agricultural lands and plots that they take as perks to defend teh country...The military than court martialled him for being a hizb ul tahrir spy...In similar contrast Imran Khan suggest that he will confiscate all illegal properties of nawaz Sharif and Asif zardari...however polls suggest that imran khan may be losing his magic...as he captures sardar sikander hayat from teh PPP in Attock...

• Mar07-2013--The PPP in what many see as its attempt to belittle nawaz sharif and teh punjab assembly passed teh 24th constitution bill in teh senate to create a bahawalpur janoobi punjab province which has little chance of success as it theoretically cannot pass teh national assembly and teh punjab provincial assembly..there was no discussion at any stage either in teh senate or teh committees...such a bill should at least have seen all members of teh senate speaking on it but it was bulldozed without any effort at even a nominal democratic process ...bahawalpur opposes its inclusion in teh province...The PPP has tried to bypass its own mandate as well as the people in making such a totally anti constitutional and anti pakistan amendment...The PMLn and the punjab assembly had opposed teh new province commission formation and they termed it anti pakistan...The JUI-f did not participate in discussions and voting while teh PMLf and PMLn walked out...many regard it as a last ditch effort by PPP to save some seats in teh three divisions of bahawalpur, DG khan and multan and districts of bhakakr and mianwali ....the attempt to placate bahawalpur by naming it as teh capitol have not apparently succeeded...DG khan too many suggest is baloch dominated...The mqm and PMLq showed that they have no mind of their own as mushahid hussain said that it was like opening a pandora's box and destroying teh four state concept of pakistan and doing things without thinking of teh consequences...zafar ul haq termed it anti punjab and anti pakistan and zafar ali shah said that the PPP was playing with teh nations security and would love to see punjab go up in flames...many see it as having teh potential to create extreme ethnic unrest and upheavals in punjab...whatever teh PPP does the seats even in seraikistan will be divided beteen teh big three parties with a possible few for teh PMlq...wih the national assembly almost dying the bill has little chance of success with opposition from teh PMLn in teh punjab assembly almost certain to kill it...

• Mar05-2013--A new poll by Pildat-gallup suggests that despite PPP support picking up a few percentage points teh PMln is running away with countrywide support of 41% followed by PPP at 17% and the PTI falling to 14%...Pildat is run by a former IJT students union boss...!many feel that teh PPP is trying to project its next government as possibly being better than the its present disastrous rule...recently revealed information suggests that rehman malik leads as an energy defaulter amongst ministers as well...!...many however feel it is just BISP vs. a motorway to swat/mass transit bus service/free laptops...obviously no one is interested in a paris in lahore or a 60 storey perviz elahi tower or bahria town skyscrapers on a karachi island...! and the possibly more innocent PTI which still wants to fight corruption...the PTI probably does'nt realize that 10 million more industrial workers will probably need around 50000-80000 new industries...the country barely has electricity and gas for its present setup...mant feel that jobs will have to come from other avenues...politicians have to realize that teh country has to control energy needs...sustainability imran khan...!
• Mar05-2013--The burial of the abbas town blast victims brought karachi to a halt and almost ended in chaos as vehicles were set on fire in sohrab goth and shiites were involved in gunfire with the rangers as the police could not get near teh blast site...teh mqm made matters worse by urging people to take teh law into their own hands...the mqm is seen as a total failure in not being able to handle karachi with its preaching of mohajir ethnicity and anti taleban biases...teh protests were as usual misdirected as teh PPP supporting MWM had no body to protest against barring the banned LJ...The SC however put a stone inits slingshot against teh weakened or withering PPP rule in sindh...sindh over teh past few weeks has seen elements of localized sectarianism with bomb attacks on shiite dargahs in the interior and the shooting of a shiite navy officer in karachi ...teh navy officer and a dargah custodian also died of their wounds...sindh is ruled by teh apparently shiite shah's and there has been a war against teh taleban and ASWJ which is blamed on both the govermnment and the mqm...seminary teachers and ASWJ workers are regularly shot dead by death squads blamed on PPP rulers and teh mqm..earlier teh government and teh mqm were involved in an ethnic war with teh baluch and pukhtuns...
